Basic Stages of work
1. Testing (Diagnostics)
- Purpose: to assess the state of binocular vision, detect strabismus, and determine the angle of deviation.
- Measurements:
- Objective angle (according to Hirschberg): assessment based on the position of light reflexes on the corneas.
- Subjective angle: the patient's alignment of paired test objects. The difference between the objective and subjective angles is Angle of anomalous correspondence of the retinas (AAR).
- Fusional reserves: measurement of the ability to fuse images when the device tubes are moved apart/together.
- Binocular vision (fusion test): using paired objects to create a complete image.
2. Measurement
- Angle of strabismus: measured in degrees on the device scale.
- Fusional amplitude: in prism diopters (△) or degrees.
- Accommodation volume (if necessary): using lenses of different diopters.
3. Training (Orthoptics and Pleoptics)
- Goal: development and strengthening of binocular connections.
- Methods:
- Fusion development: exercises to maintain the fusion of objects.
- Fusion reserve training: gradual increase in load.
- ACC elimination: "blinking" method to restore normal retinal correspondence.
- Pleoptics: stimulation with light flashes, localized glare.
4. Improving Binocular Vision (Diploptics)
- Goal: To strengthen stable binocular vision in natural conditions.
- Methods:
- Exercises for alignment and fusion in conditions similar to real-life ones.
- Stereovision training using objects with parallax.
- Simulation of fixation and tracking conditions.
Important: All procedures must be prescribed and supervised by an ophthalmologist or orthoptist. Exercises are selected individually based on the patient's diagnosis and age.
Description
Synoptiscopes (synoptophores) L-2510HB are designed to control, measure, exercise and improve the patient's binocular vision (strabismus and amblyopia therapy). Eyepieces with built-in mirrors allows a doctor to examine a cornea and simultaneously project slides with various images during diagnostics and treatment. The synoptiscope has a flash lamp with an adjustable flicker frequency of 30 to 150 times per minute. There is sixteen couples of color slides with different shapes and a couple of slides for the control examination.
