Компьютерные защитные фильтры снижают зрительное утомление, повышают контрастную чувствительность. 
Положительное воздействие фильтров на зрительную систему человека при работе с дисплеем можно объяснить: 
- поглощением УФ-излучения, защищается  сетчатка и хрусталик глаза, оптимизируется состав видимого света и повышается  разрешающая способность глаз; 
-пропусканием определенного количества света в зеленой части спектра, чтобы повысить цветоразличение, снять застойные явления в сосудах глаза и восстановить биоритм зрительного анализатора; 
-за счет пропускания в желтой области спектра повышается физическая работоспособность и снимается чувство усталости и сонливости; 
-частичным пропусканием в красно-оранжевой части спектра, способствующим повышению остроты зрения и сенсибилизации чувствительности рецепторов глаза; 
-снижением воспринимаемой яркости экрана за счет частичного поглощения света покрытием; 
 - за счет селективного поглощения в сине-голубой части спектра, которое обеспечивает улучшение воспринимаемого контраста из-за снижения эффектов рассеивания света, особенно характерных для этой области спектра.
